Configuring the footer navigation

The footer navigation is the multi-column navigation in the footer, for example with the columns "Service", "Information" or "About us".

You create the navigation itself in Shopware via categories and assign it to your Sales Channel. In the ThemeWare® configuration you then define where it is output in the footer and how it looks.

Step 1: Create the categories

  1. Open the administration of your shop
  2. Switch via the main navigation to "Catalogues" => "Categories"
  3. Create a new category on the top level, for example "Footer"
    • In the card "General" select the option "Structuring element / Entry point" for the "Category type"
  4. Create the columns below this category, for example "Service", "Information", "About us"
    • The category type "Structuring element / Entry point" makes sense here as well
  5. Create the individual links below each column, for example "Contact", "Shipping and payment", "Terms and conditions"
    • Category type "Page / List": a separate page with an assigned layout (Shopping Experience)
    • Category type "Link": a reference to a product, another category, a landing page or an external site
  6. Make sure that all categories are set to "Active"
  7. Save your categories

Note: The categories on the level directly below become columns, the category name is output as the column headline. All categories below that appear as rows within the column.

Step 2: Assign the entry point

There are two ways to do this, the result is identical.

Option A: via the category

  1. Open the category "Footer"
  2. Open the card "Navigation"
  3. Select the option "Footer navigation" for the "Entry point"
  4. Select your Sales Channel under "Sales Channel assignment"
  5. Save the category

Option B: via the Sales Channel

  1. Open your Sales Channel via the main navigation
  2. Switch to the tab "General"
  3. In the card "Navigation" select your category "Footer" in the field "Entry point footer navigation"
  4. Save the Sales Channel

In ThemeWare® the footer navigation is a widget that you assign to one of the footer elements.

  1. Switch via the main navigation to the "theme administration" ("Content" => "Themes")
    • Note: In the Shopware Cloud you will find the "Themes" area directly in the main navigation.
  2. Now click on your ThemeWare® theme to start editing
  3. Switch to the tab "Footer"
  4. Open the block "Assigning and arranging content"
  5. In a free section (for example "Element 1") select the option "Footer navigation" for the "Content (Widget)"
  6. Define the "Section" (for example "Main section") and the "Order"
  7. Save the theme configuration

Step 4: Adjust the appearance

  • Tab "Widgets" => Block "Footer navigation"
  • In the section "Basic configuration" you configure the "List-style" and the "Padding left (list with marker)"
  • In the section "Colour configuration" the "Link colour", the "Link colour @hover", the "Marker colour (list with marker)" and the "Border-bottom colour"
  • In the section "Typography" the "Text formatting" and whether "Underline links" is active

Afterwards save the theme configuration and reload the storefront once.
