ThemeWare® 2026: Focus, Quality, Future

A number of changes are coming to ThemeWare® over the next few days and weeks. We are consolidating our portfolio, aligning older existing licenses with the current store price, and laying the foundation for the years ahead. This is not happening by chance, but by deliberate choice: ThemeWare® is becoming more focused, even more powerful, and future-proof.

We know that changes raise questions. That is why we want to give you a clear overview here: What is changing, why is it changing, and what does it mean for you?

Portfolio adjustments

At ThemeWare®, we will be streamlining our portfolio in several areas. The goal is to invest our development resources even more precisely in the further development, compatibility, and quality assurance of the available variants.

Especially with themes based on the same technical core, every additional variant creates ongoing effort: for updates, testing, store maintenance, and support. In the future, we want to focus that effort even more strongly on the variants that are used most actively.

1. Cloud consolidation

All ThemeWare® Cloud variants will gradually be consolidated into ThemeWare® Cloud. Existing variants such as Modern, Strong, or Outdoor are already based on the same core and mainly differ in their default configurations, graphics, and experience worlds.

For customers using ThemeWare® Clean, nothing will change except the renaming to ThemeWare® Cloud. Configuration, settings, and ongoing use will remain unchanged.

For existing customers of the other Cloud variants, nothing will change for the time being either, except that these variants will no longer be offered in the store. Updates will continue to be possible as long as a valid rental license is in place. New features and Cloud functionalities will in the future be provided centrally in ThemeWare® Cloud.

This creates the foundation for us to focus even more specifically on the Cloud and provide you with faster updates, better compatibility, and targeted new features. In the long term, migration to ThemeWare® Cloud will therefore become necessary. Suitable guides and helpful migration tools will of course be provided in due time.

Cloud consolidation at a glance: what you need to know

• What: All Cloud variants such as Modern, Strong, Outdoor, and others will gradually be consolidated into ThemeWare® Cloud.
• Who is affected: Customers of the previous Cloud variants. For customers of ThemeWare® Clean, nothing changes except the renaming to ThemeWare® Cloud.
• What changes now: For now, the previous Cloud variants will no longer be offered in the store. Updates will continue to be possible as long as a valid rental license is in place.
• What happens in the long term: New features and Cloud functionalities will in the future be provided centrally in ThemeWare® Cloud. Migration to ThemeWare® Cloud will therefore become necessary over time.
• Do I need help: Suitable guides and helpful migration tools will of course be provided in due time. If you have any questions, our support team will be happy to help.

2. Reduction of Pro variants

We are also sharpening our focus with the Pro versions. The variants Fit, Global, Kids, and Bike will be deactivated in the store over the coming weeks.

For existing customers, nothing will change for the time being except that these variants will no longer be offered in the store. Updates will continue to be possible as long as a valid rental license is in place.

This creates the foundation to develop the remaining variants in an even more targeted way. In the long term, switching to a ThemeWare® variant that remains available in the store will become necessary. Suitable guides and helpful migration tools will of course be provided in due time.

Reduction of Pro variants at a glance: what you need to know

• What: The Pro variants Fit, Global, Kids, and Bike will no longer be offered in the store.
• Who is affected: Customers of these four Pro variants.
• What changes now: Nothing changes in ongoing use for the time being. Updates will continue to be possible as long as a valid rental license is in place.
• What comes next: In the long term, switching to a ThemeWare® variant that remains available in the store will become necessary.
• Do I need help: Suitable guides and helpful migration tools will of course be provided in due time. If you have any questions, our support team will be happy to help.

Price adjustment

In addition, we are adjusting rental prices for some existing customers to match the current store price. ThemeWare® has been continuously developed for years: new features, compatibility updates with every Shopware version, and support. Many existing customers are still paying introductory prices that no longer reflect the current scope of services.

The adjustment will be carried out through the official Shopware process. You will be informed by Shopware and will have sufficient time to confirm the new price. All background information and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on our price adjustment info page.

What is coming: new features and integrated extensions

This consolidation is not an end in itself. It creates the foundation for what we are already working on. We are currently developing a range of new features and improvements that we will roll out step by step over the coming weeks and months. This also includes new plugin-level features that will be integrated directly into ThemeWare®. No separate plugin, no additional compatibility issues, seamlessly available within your theme.

A focused portfolio means: faster updates, cleaner compatibility with every Shopware version, and more capacity for features that truly make a difference.

This allows us to leverage the potential of each platform even more effectively in the future and unlock additional opportunities for further development and new features.

Not all at once, but step by step. With this article, we want to communicate transparently in advance what you can expect. If the price adjustment affects you, Shopware will contact you directly by email.

We will communicate changes regarding variants, availability, and future migration options in good time via ThemeWare® Utilities. As usual, we will document new features and improvements in the changelog and here in the Service Portal.
