EU Guarantee Notice & GARAN

The legal situation: what takes effect on 27 Sep 2026

The basis is EU Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960, in the EU Official Journal since 2 October 2025. It applies directly – without national transposition.

From 27 September 2026, the online user interface – i.e. the product page, before the consumer submits their contractual declaration – must visibly display a uniform EU guarantee notice. It clearly informs the consumer about the statutory warranty. Anyone who additionally advertises a commercial guarantee of at least two years must also display the so-called GARAN label.

There are no thresholds and no exemptions: every trader selling goods online to consumers (B2C) is affected. If the notice is missing, the product page is open to warnings (Abmahnung).
