General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is an important EU regulation that aims to ensure consumer protection through safe products.

As a merchant, you are the final authority before the consumer and therefore bear responsibility for the safety of the products you sell. Careful checks, good documentation and proactive measures in the event of problems are essential to avoid legal risks.

Check whether and, if so, to what extent you are affected by the requirements of the GPSR with your type of product.

Ensure that all required labelling is visible on the products, their packaging or in your shop. These labels must be clear, legible and permanent to ensure consumer protection and compliance with legal requirements.

GPSR in Shopware

Shopware has looked into the topic and refers to existing options such as custom fields or the product description (see Forum: EU-Produktsicherheitsverordnung (GPSR)).

In addition, there are now a number of extensions in the Shopware shop that could be useful for you.

Below we would like to show you a few ways in which you can display certain information using on-board resources.

Product information

You can include product information in the respective product via the HTML editor of the product description. This information is automatically displayed in the "Description" tab on the product page.

Catalogues => Products => General => General information => Description

You can also use ThemeWare® to provide a lot more product information such as links, downloads or data sheets via additional fields in the respective product.

Catalogues => Products => Specifications => Custom fields

Manufacturer information

Manufacturer information can be added in Shopware 6 via the HTML editor of the respective manufacturer.

Catalogues => Manufacturers => Manufacturer information => Description

You can integrate this manufacturer information into your storefront using the ThemeWare® manufacturer tab.
