Shopware 6.6 is just around the corner

Shopware 6.6 is just around the corner and we are already working flat out to make our extensions compatible.

There will be breaking changes with this major release and there will be a lot for us to do over the next few weeks.

Shopware 6.6 RC is now available. What happened under the hood?

Breaking changes mean that unfortunately there cannot be a version of ThemeWare® that is compatible with Shopware 6.5 and Shopware 6.6 at the same time!

Based on our experience with the last major releases of Shopware 6, we recommend waiting a few weeks before updating - if possible. In any case, you should wait until all extensions used are compatible. It is also important to test the shop update extensively in a test system beforehand.

For major releases, please refer to our update instructions in the ThemeWare® Knowledge Base:

Note: The next ThemeWare® feature update will be the major update for Shopware 6.6. ThemeWare® for Shopware 6.5 will receive further necessary bugfixes.

Update: 08 February 2024 -> Storefront JS

The Shopware 6.6 Storefront will support asynchronous loading of JavaScript plugins. This change is a "breaking change" for themes.

The necessary changes affect around 10 files in the Pro and Cloud Editions and have already been implemented but are not backwards compatible.

Update: 09 February 2024 -> Vue.js 3 update

As Vue.js 2 will no longer be supported by the end of this year, Shopware updated the administration component to the latest version of Vue.js. All extensions altering the administration panel via the plugin system must be tested and migrated.

In case of the ThemeWare® Pro Edition, this affects the CMS extensions and thus more than 200 files that need to be migrated.

Update: 15 February 2024 -> 6.6.0.0-rc3 / Customizing Plugin

We have made a lot of progress with the necessary customisations for Shopware 6.6 RC2. The customising plugin works without any major adjustments. The customising app has yet to be tested. We are currently testing ThemeWare® in the recently released RC3 of Shopware 6.6.

Update: 28 February 2024

We have checked over 900 modified files of the Shopware 6.6 storefront with ThemeWare® and made the necessary changes and improvements. In addition, deprecated files and deprecated SCSS and Twig code has been removed. With regard to Shopware 6.7, new "Dreprecated" notes have been added in various places.

Update: 01 March 2024 -> 6.6.0.0-rc4

It's not long now until the release of Shopware 6.6. We are currently testing ThemeWare® with the recently released RC4.

Update: 07 March 2024 -> ThemeWare® 3.0

Today we have released ThemeWare® 3.0 for Shopware 6.6. This new major version is not backwards compatible due to changes in Shopware 6.6! You can update your theme as soon as Shopware 6.6 is released. More information will follow soon...

Update: 19 March 2024 -> 6.6.0.0-rc7

Shopware 6.6 has now reached RC7. We do not expect any major changes at this point, but nevertheless we are reviewing the RC in detail.
